Our FocusHealing Through Balancing the Elements“The effective engagement of human differences” is how MountainTop Institute describes its work. We are a local and national resource that partners with other organizations to conduct training, consulting, coaching, counseling, research and public education related to race and all other human differences. These differences have caused wounds in our culture that are historical and that run deep. We employ invited interventions that have impact at the individual, group/team and systemic levels. Our interventions are based on strategies employed by the principals of MountainTop Institute with Fortune 500 and other private sector organizations for more than three decades. We apply these methods in our work with the total Jacksonville community and its component parts. “All meaningful and lasting change begins on the inside.” These words of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. characterize the philosophy of MountainTop Institute. We work for transformative healing and growth that results from natural and organic processes and work with the elements available to us and to our clients. We create a safe, non-judgmental, space in which the impact of race and other differences can be thoughtfully and deeply felt, understood, acknowledged and addressed. The results are personal, organizational and community transformation. We are results-oriented, focusing on measurable outcomes and concrete action. Much like the elements of the earth, which are balanced throughout nature, we help our clients to utilize skills, institutional knowledge and unrecognized strengths — all elements in their personal and organizational lives. Our clients learn to work creatively with the tools they’re given, and discover additional ones available to them. In this process, we help organizations to identify and eliminate cultural barriers and to develop and grow new synergistic strategies.
